Conditional Resident
A Conditional Resident is a person granted permanent residency in the United States, but with a temporary two-year status because their residency is based on a specific condition—such as marriage to a U.S. citizen or investment in a business. This status allows them to live, work, and travel in the U.S. temporarily. Before the two years are up, they must file an application to remove the conditions and obtain full, permanent residency. This process ensures that the individual still qualifies for permanent residency and that the original basis for their status remains valid.
