Conditional Permanent Resident

A Conditional Permanent Resident is someone who has been granted a temporary status to live and work in a country, typically the United States, based on a qualifying relationship, such as marriage to a citizen. This status is granted for two years and is "conditional" because it requires the resident to prove that the relationship is genuine, and not just for immigration purposes. After two years, they must file to remove the conditions and obtain full permanent residency. Failing to do so may result in losing residency status.
