Conceptual Integration Theory

Conceptual Integration Theory, also known as blending theory, explains how our minds combine different ideas or concepts to create new understanding. It’s like blending two images to see a new picture. For example, when imagining a “flying car,” your brain merges concepts of cars and airplanes, resulting in a mental image of something new. This process occurs quickly and unconsciously, helping us understand complex ideas, solve problems, and think creatively by mixing and matching different mental spaces into a cohesive new concept.
