Concepts of space and time

Space and time are the fundamental dimensions that describe our universe. Space refers to the three-dimensional arena—length, width, and height—where objects exist and events occur. Time is the continuous flow in which events happen, moving from the past through the present to the future. Together, they form spacetime, a unified fabric where gravity and motion shape how objects move and interact. Instead of separate concepts, space and time are interconnected; changes in one can influence the other, as demonstrated by Einstein’s theory of relativity, which reveals that the fabric of spacetime is flexible and affected by mass and energy.
