CONADEP (National Commission on the Disappearance of Persons)
CONADEP, or the National Commission on the Disappearance of Persons, was established in Argentina in 1983 to investigate the forced disappearances of people during the military dictatorship from 1976 to 1983. Many citizens were abducted, tortured, and killed. The commission gathered testimonies, documented cases, and aimed to uncover the truth about these atrocities. In 1984, CONADEP released a report called "Nunca Más" ("Never Again"), which detailed its findings and became a crucial document in Argentina's human rights movement, helping to hold perpetrators accountable and raise awareness about state-sponsored violence.
