Computed Tomography Colonography (CTC)
Computed Tomography Colonography (CTC), also known as virtual colonoscopy, is a non-invasive imaging technique used to examine the colon and rectum for abnormalities like polyps or cancer. It uses a CT scanner to create detailed, 3D images after the colon is gently inflated with air or carbon dioxide. The procedure involves minimal discomfort, typically requiring bowel preparation beforehand. CTC provides a safe, accurate alternative to traditional colonoscopy, enabling doctors to detect issues without inserting a scope into the colon. If abnormalities are found, further testing like a standard colonoscopy may be recommended.
