Compound Eyes
Compound eyes are specialized visual organs found in many insects and crustaceans, made up of numerous small, individual lenses called ommatidia. Each ommatidium captures a part of the overall scene, contributing to a wide field of vision. This structure allows these animals to detect movement swiftly and perceive a broad panoramic view, although their image resolution is generally lower than that of human eyes. The arrangement and number of ommatidia vary among species, enabling different insects to adapt their vision for activities like hunting, navigation, and avoiding predators.
