Complications of Fractures

Complications of fractures are problems that can happen as a result of a broken bone. They include infections if a wound gets contaminated, complications from surgery such as blood clots or nerve damage, delayed healing or non-healing of the bone, and improper healing leading to deformity. Sometimes, nearby nerves or blood vessels can be injured, causing numbness, weakness, or circulation issues. In severe cases, muscle or tissue damage can lead to a condition called compartment syndrome, which requires urgent treatment. Prompt medical care helps minimize these risks and ensures proper healing.
