Compensation and Pension Examinations
Compensation and Pension (C&P) examinations are medical assessments conducted by VA-appointed healthcare professionals to evaluate a veteran’s health condition related to service. These exams determine the severity and impact of disabilities for benefits purposes, including disability ratings that influence compensation payments. During the exam, the examiner reviews medical history, performs physical or mental assessments, and reports findings to support the veteran's claim. The goal is to provide an objective evaluation that helps the VA decide the appropriate level of disability compensation based on the veteran’s health status.
