Community Right to Challenge

The Community Right to Challenge allows local residents, community groups, or organizations to propose to take over and run public services—like waste collection or community centers—that are usually managed by local authorities. If they believe they can deliver these services more effectively or efficiently, they can formally request to do so. This process encourages innovation and community involvement in decision-making, ensuring local services meet residents’ needs better. However, submissions must meet certain criteria and follow a set process to be considered fairly.
