Community Memory Project

The Community Memory Project was an early experiment in public access computer technology launched in 1973 in Berkeley, California. It aimed to create a shared information system where community members could post messages, notices, and announce events, similar to a digital bulletin board. Using terminals connected to a computer, residents could communicate and collaborate more easily. This project was pioneering in promoting local information sharing and helped lay the groundwork for later developments in online communication, social networks, and community-based digital platforms.
