Community Corrections Act

The Community Corrections Act (CCA) is a law that allows local governments to manage certain non-violent offenders outside of traditional prisons, through community-based programs like probation or parole. It aims to reduce prison overcrowding, provide cost-effective supervision, and promote rehabilitation. Under the CCA, local communities have more control over how they supervise offenders, offering treatment, counseling, and other support to help them re-integrate into society while minimizing the risk of re-offending. This approach balances public safety with the goal of helping offenders become productive, law-abiding citizens.
