Communist Party of Germany
The Communist Party of Germany (KPD) was a political party active mainly in the early to mid-20th century, advocating for a socialist society based on Marxist principles. It aimed to overthrow capitalism and establish a classless, stateless society through revolutionary means. The KPD opposed both capitalism and the rise of Nazism, often aligning with other leftist groups. Its influence declined with the rise of the Nazi regime, and it was eventually banned in 1933. After World War II, East Germany's communist government was separate, with the Socialist Unity Party overshadowing the original KPD.
