Common Frog
The common frog (*Rana temporaria*) is a widespread amphibian found across Europe. It has a smooth, variable-colored skin that ranges from brown to green, often with dark patches. Typically growing 5-10 cm long, it has powerful hind legs adapted for jumping and swimming. Frogs are semi-aquatic, spending time both in water and on land, especially near ponds, lakes, and gardens. They are carnivorous, feeding mainly on insects and invertebrates. Common frogs play an important role in ecosystems as both predator and prey, and their presence can indicate healthy, biodiverse environments.
