Common European Sales Law

The Common European Sales Law (CESL) was a proposed set of rules intended to simplify and unify online and cross-border sales within the European Union. It aimed to clarify consumers' and businesses' rights, making it easier to buy and sell across different EU countries by providing clear, consistent regulations. CESL covered contracts for goods and services, including online transactions, and sought to boost e-commerce. Although the law was developed to promote fairness and transparency, it was never adopted into EU legislation and remains a legal framework that was proposed but not implemented.
