Common Cold

The common cold is a viral infection that primarily affects the upper respiratory system, including the nose and throat. It's caused by various viruses, with rhinoviruses being the most common. Symptoms typically include a runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, cough, sneezing, mild headache, and fatigue. Colds are easily spread through droplets from coughs or sneezes and by touching contaminated surfaces. While they are usually mild and resolve within a week or two, they can lead to more serious health issues in vulnerable populations. There is no cure, but rest, hydration, and over-the-counter remedies can help alleviate symptoms.
