Commission on Sustainable Development

The Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) was a body established by the United Nations in 1992 to promote sustainable development globally. Its role was to monitor progress towards achieving sustainable development goals, address economic, social, and environmental challenges, and facilitate international cooperation. The CSD focused on integrating economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental protection to ensure that current needs are met without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. Although it was replaced by the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in 2013, its legacy continues to influence sustainability discussions today.
