Comitium
The Comitium was an ancient Roman public space located in the early city of Rome, serving as a central area for political, social, and religious activities. It functioned as a marketplace, a place for political gatherings, debates, and judicial proceedings. Traditionally, it was the site where citizens assembled to vote, discuss laws, and elect officials. The Comitium was situated in front of the Roman Curia (senate house) and played a crucial role in the civic life of early Rome, symbolizing the communal participation that was foundational to Roman democracy.
