Comfrey

Comfrey is a perennial herb with large leaves and purple flowers, commonly found in Europe, Asia, and North America. Historically, it has been used in traditional medicine to promote healing, particularly for skin injuries and bone fractures, due to its high allantoin content, which may aid cell regeneration. However, comfrey contains compounds called pyrrolizidine alkaloids that can be toxic to the liver if ingested in significant amounts. As a result, while topical applications may be safe for short-term use, internal consumption is not recommended. Always consult a healthcare professional before using herbal remedies.
