Combined Spinal-Epidural Analgesia
Combined Spinal-Epidural Analgesia (CSEA) is a pain relief method often used during labor or surgery. It involves two types of anesthesia: an epidural, which is injected into the lower back to numb pain, and a spinal injection, which provides quicker pain relief by acting directly on the spinal fluid. This combination allows for effective pain control while still enabling some movement and awareness. CSEA can offer flexibility, as the dosage can be adjusted based on the patient’s needs during the procedure or labor. The aim is to enhance comfort while maintaining safety for both the mother and baby.
