Colorectal screening
Colorectal screening involves tests to detect early signs or changes in the colon and rectum, which can help prevent or catch cancer early. Common methods include stool tests that check for blood or abnormal cells, and procedures like colonoscopy, where a doctor examines the inside of the colon with a flexible tube. Screening is important because colorectal cancer often develops slowly and can be treated effectively if found early. Regular screening starting at age 45 or earlier for those with risk factors can save lives by catching issues before symptoms appear.
