Colorblind Racism
Colorblind racism is a way of thinking where people claim not to see race or believe that ignoring race helps promote equality. However, this perspective can unintentionally preserve racial inequalities because it overlooks how race still impacts people's experiences and opportunities. By ignoring race, it dismisses the ongoing effects of historical discrimination and structural barriers faced by marginalized groups. In short, colorblind racism can prevent meaningful understanding and action toward addressing racial disparities, maintaining the status quo under the false idea that ignoring race is neutral or fair.
