Colorado River Delta
The Colorado River Delta is the natural region where the Colorado River flows into the Gulf of California in Mexico. Historically, it was a vibrant ecosystem with wetlands, estuaries, and diverse wildlife, sustained by the river's yearly flow. However, extensive dams and water diversion for agriculture, cities, and industry have drastically reduced the river’s flow, leading to the delta's decline. This has caused the loss of habitats and decreased biodiversity. Efforts are ongoing to restore parts of the delta by managed flow releases, aiming to revive its ecological health and support local communities.
