Colonel John Butler

Colonel John Butler was a prominent military officer and landowner in colonial New York in the 18th century. He is best known for leading Butler's Rangers, a Loyalist militia that supported British interests during the American Revolutionary War. Originally of Irish descent, he played a role in frontier defense and conflicts with Native American tribes and American settlers.
