Colon Resection

Colon resection is a surgical procedure where a portion of the large intestine (colon) is removed. This surgery is often performed to treat conditions like cancer, blockages, or inflammatory diseases such as Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis. During the procedure, the surgeon removes the damaged or diseased section and connects the healthy ends to restore intestinal continuity. In some cases, an ostomy may be created, allowing waste to exit the body into a bag, which can later be reversed if possible. The goal is to eliminate diseased tissue and improve bowel function and overall health.
