College Football Playoff (CFP)
The College Football Playoff (CFP) is an annual postseason tournament that determines the national champion of NCAA Division I FBS football. The top four ranked teams, selected based on rankings and committee evaluations, compete in two semifinal games, usually held at neutral sites. The winners advance to the national championship game. The CFP replaced the BCS system in 2014, providing a playoff format to crown the best college football team through competitive elimination. It aims to reliably identify the season’s top teams and produce a definitive national champion.
