Cold Site

A cold site is a backup location used by a business in case its main facility experiences a disaster, like a fire or flood. Unlike more active recovery options, a cold site is usually an empty space with basic infrastructure (such as electricity and cooling), but it lacks the necessary equipment, data, and systems needed to operate immediately. To resume operations, the business must bring in equipment, restore data, and set up everything from scratch. Cold sites are a cost-effective option for companies with less urgent recovery needs but require more time to become fully operational after an emergency.
