COIN theory

COIN theory, or "Counterinsurgency" theory, refers to strategies used by military or government forces to defeat insurgent groups (like rebels or terrorists) operating within a country. It emphasizes a comprehensive approach that combines military action with political, economic, and social efforts to win the support of the local population. The goal is to weaken the insurgents’ influence and legitimacy by addressing their root causes, such as poverty or political injustice, while maintaining security and stability.
