coiling
Coiling is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to treat aneurysms—weakened, bulging areas in blood vessels—especially in the brain. During the procedure, a doctor inserts a thin tube through an artery to reach the aneurysm. Tiny platinum coils are then placed into the aneurysm, causing blood to clot and fill the space. This stimulates scar tissue formation, which seals off the aneurysm from blood flow, reducing the risk of rupture. Coiling offers a less invasive alternative to open surgery, often leading to shorter recovery times and effective treatment of the aneurysm.
