Coil and Twine techniques
Coil and Twine are traditional pottery techniques. The Coil method involves rolling clay into long, snakes-like strips, which are then layered and smoothed to build up the vessel’s walls. It allows for creative shaping and is often used by hand-builders. Twine, on the other hand, involves wrapping or weaving twine or cord around a form to create a textured surface or structural framework, sometimes reinforced with clay or other materials. Both techniques require skill and patience, offering unique aesthetic results, with coils creating smooth, rounded forms and twine adding texture or structural elements.
