cognitive-experiential self-theory

Cognitive-experiential self-theory (CEST) explains how we process information through two interconnected systems: a rational, logical one and an experiential, emotional one. The rational system analyzes data and makes deliberate decisions, while the experiential system responds quickly based on feelings and past experiences. Both systems work together to influence our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. For example, while we might logically decide to save money, our feelings or past experiences might influence us to spend impulsively. CEST helps us understand how different types of thinking shape our everyday choices and reactions.
