Cognition and Instruction

Cognition refers to the mental processes involved in acquiring, understanding, and using knowledge, such as thinking, problem-solving, memory, and perception. Instruction is the structured guidance or teaching provided to help facilitate learning and cognitive development. Together, cognition and instruction focus on how people learn and process information, with effective teaching strategies designed to support and enhance mental functions. In essence, cognition is the mind’s way of making sense of the world, and instruction is how we intentionally shape that process to promote learning and skill development.
