COGEMA, or Compagnie Générale des Matières Nucléaires, was a French company specializing in the nuclear fuel cycle, including uranium mining, conversion, enrichment, and recycling of nuclear materials. It played a key role in supplying France’s nuclear power industry and international clients. Established in 1976, COGEMA managed the entire process of preparing nuclear fuel for reactors, ensuring safe and efficient energy production. In 2001, it merged with other companies to form Areva, reflecting its importance in France’s nuclear sector and global nuclear technology. Today, its functions are part of Orano, continuing its legacy in nuclear materials management.
