Coefficient of Performance (COP)

The Coefficient of Performance (COP) measures how efficiently a heating or cooling system operates. It compares the amount of useful heat transferred (warmth in or out of a space) to the energy it consumes to do so. For example, a heat pump with a COP of 4 delivers four units of heat for every one unit of electricity used, indicating high efficiency. Essentially, a higher COP means the system provides more heating or cooling per unit of energy, making it more cost-effective and energy-efficient. It helps consumers understand how well a system performs in converting energy into heating or cooling.
