Codman & Osgood

Codman’s triangle and Osgood-Schlatter disease are related to bone health and growth. Codman’s triangle is an X-ray finding indicating a nearby bone’s periosteum (outer layer) has lifted due to an underlying lesion like a tumor or infection, forming a triangular shadow. Osgood-Schlatter disease is a common overuse injury in adolescents, causing pain and swelling just below the kneecap where the patellar tendon attaches to the shinbone. It results from repetitive stress during growth, leading to inflammation and small bone fragments. Both conditions involve growth or injury at the bone-tendon interface and are typically manageable with appropriate treatment.
