Code Duello
The Code Duello is a historical set of rules governing how disputes between gentlemen or combatants could be resolved through dueling. It outlined proper conduct, procedures, weapons, and circumstances acceptable for duels, emphasizing honor and fairness. Designed to prevent impulsive violence, the code aimed to regulate combat, ensuring disputes were settled with respect and order rather than spontaneous violence. While highly regarded in certain social circles in the 17th to 19th centuries, it eventually became obsolete as societal attitudes toward conflict and conflict resolution evolved.
