Cocrystallization

Cocrystallization is a process where two or more different molecules, typically a drug and a partner molecule called a coformer, come together to form a new crystalline structure. This new compound, known as a cocrystal, maintains the individual properties of each component but creates a stable, engineered crystal. Cocrystallization can improve a drug's solubility, stability, and bioavailability, making it more effective or easier to manufacture. It is a precise method used in pharmaceuticals to optimize how a drug performs without altering its core chemical structure.
