Cockayne Syndrome
Cockayne Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that affects development and causes premature aging. People with this condition often experience growth failure, sensitivity to sunlight, impaired vision and hearing, and neurological problems such as developmental delays. They may also have skin changes, dental issues, and be more prone to infections. The condition results from specific genetic mutations that impair the body's ability to repair DNA damage, leading to progressive deterioration of tissues. Unfortunately, Cockayne Syndrome is generally life-limiting, with many individuals not surviving past childhood or adolescence.
