Coastal Impact Assistance Program (CIAP)

The Coastal Impact Assistance Program (CIAP) is a federal initiative that provides funding to coastal states and certain Indian tribes. Its goal is to help manage, protect, and restore coastal areas affected by oil and gas development in the Outer Continental Shelf. The program aims to reduce environmental impacts, promote conservation, and improve infrastructure and emergency response capabilities in coastal communities. Funded through a share of revenues from offshore oil and gas leasing, CIAP supports projects that benefit the environment, local economies, and public safety in coastal regions.
