Coalbed Methane

Coalbed methane is natural gas stored within coal seams beneath the Earth's surface. As coal forms, it traps methane gas produced during its ancient formation process. When coal is mined or hydraulically stimulated, the methane is released and can be captured and used as a clean energy source. This gas is valuable because it reduces greenhouse gas emissions when extracted and provides a significant energy resource. Unlike conventional natural gas, coalbed methane is primarily found in underground coal deposits and requires specialized techniques for safe and efficient extraction.
