Coagulation Factor VIII
Coagulation Factor VIII is a protein essential for blood clotting. When a blood vessel is injured, Factor VIII works with other clotting factors to form a blood clot, stopping bleeding. It acts as a helper in the clotting process, activating the chain of events that leads to clot formation. People with a deficiency or abnormality in Factor VIII have a bleeding disorder called hemophilia A, which causes them to bleed more easily and for longer periods. Treatment often involves replacing Factor VIII through infusions to help manage and prevent excessive bleeding.
