Cnidus
Cnidus was an ancient Greek city located on the southwestern coast of Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey). Known for its wealth and excellence in architecture and art, it thrived during the classical period. Cnidus was famous for its impressive temples, sculptures, and the pioneering use of a style called Corinthian order in architecture. It also housed a significant philosophical school, contributing to early Greek thought. The city played a prominent role in trade and cultural exchange, and its ruins still reveal the grandeur of its past, including a notable lighthouse that was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
