clot formation
Clot formation is the body's way of stopping bleeding when a blood vessel is injured. When there's a cut, blood cells and proteins called platelets rush to the injury site, sticking together to form a temporary plug. Simultaneously, a series of chemical reactions activates proteins called clotting factors, which work together to strengthen the plug by creating a fibrin mesh. This mesh acts like a net, holding the platelets in place and forming a more stable clot. Once healing is complete, the body dissolves the clot to restore normal blood flow.
