Clonal selection

Clonal selection is a process in the immune system where specific immune cells called lymphocytes are chosen to fight particular germs. When a pathogen invades, immune cells with receptors that recognize it are activated. These activated cells then multiply rapidly, creating cloned copies that are specially equipped to target and eliminate the threat effectively. This process ensures a precise and efficient immune response, providing protection against future infections by the same pathogen through memory cells formed during this selection.
