Cloisonné Enamel

Cloisonné enamel is an intricate decorative technique where thin metal wires are shaped into patterns and affixed onto a metal surface to create compartments, or "cloisons." These compartments are then filled with colorful, powdered glass enamel and fired at high temperatures, causing the enamel to melt and fuse firmly within the wires. Once cooled, the surface is polished to reveal vibrant, detailed designs with striking contrast and depth. This ancient craft, valued for its artistry and durability, has been used to decorate jewelry, vessels, and art objects across various cultures, notably in China and the Middle East.
