Clive of India
Clive of India, also known as Robert Clive, was a British military officer and colonial administrator in the 18th century. He played a key role in establishing British control over India by leading military campaigns and negotiating political alliances, most notably at the Battle of Plassey in 1757. This victory allowed Britain to dominate Bengal and expand its influence across India, laying the foundation for British rule in the region. Clive's actions significantly shaped Indian history, bringing both economic benefits to Britain and complex consequences for India’s societies and governance.
