Clipping
Clipping occurs in audio recording or processing when the volume level exceeds the maximum limit that the equipment can handle. Imagine pouring water into a container; once full, any additional water spills out. Similarly, when an audio signal becomes too loud, the system can't accurately record or reproduce it, causing distortion. This distortion appears as a harsh or muffled sound and reduces audio quality. To prevent clipping, audio levels need to be kept within a safe range, ensuring clear and accurate sound without unwanted distortion.
