Clerestory

A clerestory is a high section of a building's wall that contains windows, situated above eye level. Its purpose is to bring natural light into interior spaces that might otherwise be dim, while maintaining privacy and security. Often found in churches, basilicas, and large halls, clerestories allow daylight to filter in from above, reducing the need for artificial lighting and enhancing the architectural aesthetic. The design also helps improve ventilation and can emphasize the grandeur of a structure by drawing the eye upward.
