CLE (Chronic Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus)
Chronic Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus (CLE) is a long-term autoimmune skin condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy skin, leading to persistent skin inflammation and damage. It often presents as red, scaly patches, scars, or skin discoloration, especially on sun-exposed areas like the face and scalp. CLE is a localized form of lupus, mainly affecting the skin, but it can sometimes be associated with systemic lupus, which involves other organs. Managing CLE typically includes sun protection, medications to reduce inflammation, and immune system control. While it can cause lasting skin changes, it usually doesn't affect internal organs.
