Clay Soil
Clay soil is a type of soil composed of tiny mineral particles called clay minerals. These particles are very small, giving the soil a smooth, sticky texture when wet. Clay soil retains water well and tends to be dense and heavy, making it difficult for roots to penetrate. It warms slowly in spring and can become compacted easily. While it can be rich in nutrients, proper management, like adding organic matter or sand, is often necessary to improve drainage and aeration for healthier plant growth.
